PublicationsVariable Structure Observer Design in Second-Order Formulation for Nonlinear Vibrating Systems with Measurement NoiseTri-Tan Van Cao, Fangpo He, Karl Sammut, Lei Chen (2002)Proceedings of MECH2K2Abstract:The Variable Structure Observer (VSO) design for a class of nonlinear vibrating systems with Lipschitz nonlinearity based on the natural matrix second-order (MSO) model is addressed in this paper. The approach is based on Lyapunov Stability Theory, which guarantees asymptotic convergence of the estimation error in the presence of uncertainty. The proposed observer can be used to robustly estimate oscillations in other degree-of-freedom of a multi-degree-of-freedom (mdof) nonlinear vibrating system by processing measured velocity signals and control inputs from one or more degrees-of freedom in the presence of matched uncertainty.
