PublicationsTheoretical and Experimental Results of the Transmission Loss of a Plate with Discrete Masses AttachedCarl Q. Howard (2007)14th International Congress on Sound and Vibration, Cairns, Queensland, Australia, 9-12 July, Paper 14Abstract:A mathematical model is developed to calculate the transmission loss of a simply-supported plate with an array of masses attached. Experimental tests were conducted and compared with the theoretical predictions and showed that there was good agreement. The results showed that the transmission loss of the plate can be improved by the addition of the masses, greater than that which would be predicted from the ‘mass-law’ model.
