Why Study Automotive EngineeringAn automotive degree will immediately demonstrate to your future employer that you are serious about a career in the industry. The degree syllabus itself is designed (with the aid of industry experts) to develop your knowledge of many automotive engineering issues and specialised technical areas, while maintaining a strong foundation of mechanical engineering principles. The automotive sector is one of Australia's largest employers (and exporters) and as such will offer many career opportunities. Its synergy with innovative technology and quality excellence also provides employees with longer term career opportunities in high tech engineering fields as well as much broader fields of engineering. What will you study?Your good understanding of mathematics will be further developed and applied to engineering theories that are essential for good, efficient and safe design. You will learn how to communicate as an automotive engineer (verbally, graphically and in writing) and how to work on large projects as part of a team. Your leadership and problem solving skills will be developed so you will have the knowledge base necessary to build your career as a leader in the automotive industry. The more technically orientated subjects will help you to understand vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, noise and vibration, engine performance, safety, quality issues and advanced manufacturing systems. You will also develop skills in the use of computer aided design (CAD), Engineering (CAE) and Manufacturing (CAM) software that is typical of what you will continue to use in the automotive industry. |
