Occupational Health & Safety
The School of Mechanical Engineering has a strong commitment to workplace health and safety. 1996 saw the introduction into the School of new Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Our School Safety Officer is Mr Richard Pateman and our OH&S representative is Dr Paul Medwell.
Regular workplace inspections are carried out, and problems which are noted will be considered at School Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings and appropriate action taken.
Postgraduate students who are new to the School are given an occupational health and safety briefing as part of their induction course and notes are included in the laboratory notes for all undergraduate students.
Undergraduate and Masters Student Safety Induction
It is a University requirement for all students to read the School induction presentation. Further information is available in the HSW instructions.
Occupational Health and Safety Documentation
The above site now has links to ALL Health and Safety information (Policy and Handbook, Responsibilities, Training and Induction, RMSS, Injury Management, Legislation, HSW team contacts and a 'What's New' section).
